Commentary: Mauritius Blue was named after Republic of Mauritius, an island nation off the African southeast coast, where rich colours dominant the island.
This colour is a favorite of the 8 Series community because of its rich hues and beautiful shimmer in direct sunlight.
Although Mauritius Blue was retired at the conclusion of the 1993 model year. The successor colour to Maritius Blue was Orient Blue (code 317).
Despite the discontinuation of this colour, 18 more cars were built under Special Order (code 490) by BMW until 07/1995 production uwith an average global price of $4k (USD) per car surcharge.
