In the early years of 8er production, there were a large variety of upholstery colors/fabrics to choose from BMW's official catalog. By the 1993-94 model years, BMW re-evaluated the upholstery catalog for the 8er and promptly removed underperforming colors.
One of these colors was Karmesinrot Mit Schwarz Nappa (code 0361/M5KM). Once BMW ended this upholstery color, it incorporated this color scheme and modified it to become part of a triad of ColorLine interiors (in order of total number produced):
Of the three Colorline options offered, this was the least accepted by dealers and customers. It was offered from November 1991 until July 1996.
Initially this upholstery color was called: TRINIDADROT LEDER COLOR-LINE (0490).
This Colorline interior was mainly matched to Calypso Red (code 252), of which 97 of the 104 8er's built with this combination.
